Ericsson’s Ongoing Support For Women In Technology

Ericsson supports women in technology, participating in events such as the 2015 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, held October 14-16, 2015 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, TX

The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing is an annual event presented by the Anita Borg Institute for Women in Technology and the Association for Computing Machinery. For 13 years, GHC has brought together the community of women technologists, the best minds in computing, and increased visibility for the contributions of women to computing. The conference results in collaborative proposals, networking, and mentoring for attendees.

Conference presenters are leaders in their respective fields, representing industry, academia, and government. The conference also offers professional development through a variety of activities. Industry luminaries Sheryl Sandberg, chief operating officer at Facebook and founder of LeanIn.Org and Megan Smith, United States chief technology officer, among others, were the plenary speakers at this year’s event.

Ericsson is committed to careers for women in technology. “Our objective is to have 30 percent of our workforce female by 2020 and we’re constantly exploring opportunities to support women who want to develop along technical career paths,” says Gunjan Aggarwal, vice president of global talent acquisition and MA. “We are proud to support the Grace Hopper Event, the world’s largest technical conference for women in computing.”

Adds Aggarwal, “Ericsson’s vision of hiring talented women in technology remains strong. GHC is an excellent opportunity to join the community, showcase our organization, and inspire a new generation of women into technology.”
