 Northrop Grumman’s Lin Earns Engineering Award

Northrop Grumman Corporation employee Nora Lin has recently been honored with the Advocating Women in Engineering Award for demonstrating professional excellence in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
The award - which was presented to her at the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) annual conference last fall - also recognizes her being an advocate for women in engineering and SWE’s mission.
Lin is an engineering program manager at Northrop Grumman with broad experience in software and systems engineering in the defense industry. She began her career as an associated scientific programmer, advancing to become a technical lead/manager in software engineering and led teams of various sizes to develop relational database applications and real-time software for several programs.
She earned a bachelor's degree in physics in Taiwan and a master’s degree in physics from the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
Lin joined SWE as a senior member in 1997, became a life member in 2003 and has held various SWE leadership positions at local, regional and national levels. She served as the SWE president in from 2009 to 2010.
In 2003 she led the group that established the Northrop Grumman Women Engineers employee resource group to provide networking and development opportunities for women engineers across the country and served as the first chair.
She’s active in the Northrop Grumman Asian Pacific Professional Networking employee resource group and supports external STEM outreach efforts such as DiscoverE.
In addition to this honor, Lin received the Women of Color Technology Career Achievement Award in 2008 and the Asian American Engineer of the Year Award in 2009.
